ABOUT THE ARTIST

Abiodun AGBELUSI was born in December 30th, 1965, Lagos, Nigeria.
 He graduated from the Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria and the colorist school, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo States almost two decades majoring in Painting.
  
A prolific and versatile artist whose media are Acrylic, Oil, Water color, Pastel, Charcoal and Gouache. Also Coffee and extract from the natural leaves.

I’ve had over six solo exhibitions to my credit and also participated in several group exhibitions in Nigeria, United States of America, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Switzerland, South Africa, Ghana, Lome, Republic of Benin to mention a few. 

I have also worked as a cartoonist and illustrator with Nigerian newspapers and magazines such as, The Guardian Newspapers, The Comet Newspapers, Heart and Sweetheart magazines. 

My works can be found in many private, public and corporate collections across Nigeria and overseas and finally executed numerous commissioned jobs.

Abiodun has also participated in several workshops both in Nigeria , Africa and outside Africa.
 

Ever since I became conscious of the means to which I could employ pencil on the plain surface of a paper during childhood, I had never looked back.

Many Artists in recent times have taken pains to assert an
independence of their creative mind.

The influence of my thoughts, on my mind has a wider significance.  
Artist is in one sense the real subject of his works and the quality of his
mind.

 I search for a visual language of Universal archetypes and what I
see inspires my work.  The language of this creation occurs through the
physical act of painting.
