A
Scientist is an Artiste
By Farida Saeed Neelam Muizzuddin is the fresh new talent who is having an exhibition of her art at the World Fine Art Gallery in Chelsea in May 2002. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Neelam attended the prestigious Convent of Sacred Heart High School, and Kinnaird College for her education up to her Bachelors in Science. Although Neelam recognized her natural inclination for arts, she postponed her passion to pursue her career in science. Neelam obtained a Masters in Microbiology before immigrating to the United States, in 1986, where she started working for Estee Lauder Companies, as a Research Scientist. Always of a very active and energetic temperament, Neelam obtained her doctorate in Cell Biology while working full time. Having established herself solidly in her field of science, Neelam finally allowed herself the luxury to turn to her first love of painting. With minimal artistic training in her schooling, Neelam taught herself to use oil paints - her specialty. Neelam uses her painting as a source of relaxation and stress relief. Neelam’s paintings cover
a myriad of subjects, from sensual impressionism (my favorite) to realistic
architectures and people in action, to calligraphy. She uses mostly
oil paints.
This artist's eye expresses
her sensuality and positive outlook flecked with innocence and humor, where
images are filtered through a lyrical relation between the eye and emotions
from observation to transfiguration.
